It was a heartbreaking defeat for Kent State and head coach Darrell Hazell, one that "will take some time" to get over, according to the second-year head coach of the Golden Flashes. In a season full of successes and historical bests, Kent State fell 44-37 to defensing MAC champion Northern Illinois as they tried to become the first ever MAC team "bust" the BCS.
