So, I'm visiting the hospital and my nurse this morning sees my Kent State hat and asks if I went to Kent. She then told me she went to Kent. I asked her what year she graduated and she said 2005. So, I said, "oh, you were there for the Elite 8 run." She said that was her freshman year and it was very exciting on campus.
She said in her dorm, people were so excited during one of the NCAA tournament games they looked up and there was water leaking through the roof. It turns out some students were celebrating and ended up knocking a water fountain off the wall, which caused a flood.
Later today, when a group of doctors paid a visit, my main doctor asked if I made it to the game last week. I told her yes, but the big challenge is getting to Saturday's game. One of the other doctors asked which game it was and I told him Kent State at Akron. He said he was an alumni and he remembers when they tore down the goal posts. I happened to be a part of that goal post destruction team and carried the main post down Summit Street with a group of KSU athletes, who intended to use the post as a basketball hoop at their house.
Small world.
