Historically, Kent has not fared well against the Broncos ever since I can remember. After going 0-11 in 1982 and 1-11 in 1983, Kent had an opportunity to defeat Western Michigan in 1984 but lost 13-9. I remember the Western Michigan coach explaining how he was just waiting for Kent to fall apart. I don't believe that the coach was being ugly about what he had said. It was just that Kent always had a reputation for shooting itself in the foot and his strategy in this defensive battle was to just wait until the Flashes beat themselves. I can't remember exactly what happened in this game that enabled the Broncos to win but I believe it was a botched play or some mistake by Kent that pretty much gave the Broncos the victory. Despite leading the game until the end, Kent's players still had that look in their eyes that suggested they didn't really expect to win. Western Michigan's coach said that he saw a lack of confidence from the KSU players and knew that it was just a matter of time that a critical mistake by Kent would allow the Broncos to win. But that was then and this is now. Kent's players no longer lack confidence in themselves and are going into games expecting to win. Although I have confidence in the Flashes, I know historically the odds tend to favor the Broncos. And that is probably why I am still sleepless in Nashville. But I know that after a big win today, I will be sleeping like a baby tonight.
Go Flashes!!!

Goodnight fellow Flashes. Tonight I'll sleep like a baby.
