Just heard from a couple of Ohio recruits that will be at Kent State on Saturday.
One is Adam Griffin, a running back from Columbus DeSales. If the name sounds familiar, it should. His father is 2X Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin.
The other is offensive lineman Tanner Neumore from Berkshire (in Burton, where I live).
I've seen Tanner play a few times. He's a big kid that needs some work. But, Kent State doesn't get kids his size too often (he's about 6-4 or 6-5 and 300 pounds).

Adam's Uncle Daryle played for Kent State and was a member of the 1972 Mid American Conference Championship team. Living in Nashville, I have never had the opportunity to watch Adam play but saw his father and uncle play for Columbus Eastmoor when I lived in Columbus many years ago. With a family tie to KSU, there is a very good possibility that Adam will also become a Golden Flash. Although I have never been an OSU fan, I have always had great admiration for Archie Griffin. It would be great to see his son play for Kent and have Archie sitting in the stands cheering for the Flashes.

Great news Steve, more ties to past successful years of Kent State.
Would be great to get 2 more recruits from Ohio.
Hopefully the weather is great and the Golden Flashes come ready to play smashmouth, smart, explosive football. They can't afford to have anything less. As this should be a high scoring affair.

That Neumore kid needs a lot of work! He has bad lateral movement, he stands straight up, does not keep his base, and he would get blown off the ball by X's and stunts if ran against him. Also for his size he seems to lack strength. He is no doubt big though. I would keep him in the weight room work on his foot work then you would have yourself a lineman.

beasterd...he is definitely a work in progress.
The film you saw--which I assume was on his profile--was from a scrimmage just before the season started.
I actually have some of his game film now. He's much better in games, but still a work in progress. But, let's face it, this is the kind of kid Kent State thrives on.
Take Brian Winters for example. Kent State was his only offer. He was a project. Well, that kid progressed much more quickly than anyone could have imagined.
Josh Kline, Michael Fay...same deal.
Kent State has to balance the size issue with the fact that many kids they recruit will be projects, and they won't hit on them all.
The Flashes just aren't going to get many 6-foot-5, 300-pound kids that are technically proficient. Those kids end up at BCS schools.

Oh yeah I agree, that is what I was thinking he just needs coached up. Redshirt him keep him on a good diet, weights and technique and bang you have got a solid lineman with BCS school size.

Add Columbus Brookhaven DB Ryland Ward to the weekend visitors list.

Great news. I know he was suppose to come to the BG or Miami game, but could not make it. It would be nice to penetrate Columbus OH for some recruits as well. Hopefully some of these recruits leave impressed and the coaching staff can start securing verbals from some of them.
