I thought some KSU fans were rough to be around, but one quick glance at an Ohio message board....wow.

Before Saturday's game they were talking about securing passports for a bowl game and even asked if OU should be ranked higher than Ohio State.

Seriously, I'm not making this up:

"Both teams are 5-2 this week. Ohio has lost to UConn and Tennessee. Ohio State has lost to USC and Purdue. Since Ohio's loss to Tennesse better than OSU's loss to Purdue I think you have an arguement. Both UConn and Tennesse received votes in last weeks Harris poll. Ohio should start receiving votes in the top 25 this week as one of the few schools with 5 wins left unoticed."

Today, they are talking about firing their head coach, their AD, dropping their football program, etc.

Football is a game. One team wins, one team loses.

Kent State fans were disappointed when the Golden Flashes lost to Iowa State. Most felt KSU was more talented and gave the game away. And that's because ISU, like KSU, has a history of playing poorly.

Right now, the Cyclones are 5-3 and in second place of the Big 12 North Division. They are much better than people thought they'd be before the season started.

Most MAC fans are surprised Kent State beat Ohio. And there's only one reason, it's the apathy surrounding the program.

That's also been a big reason Kent State has had so much trouble winning. The players had to believe they were better than their predecessors. A loss like the one to Bowling Green was all it took for most KSU teams to tank the rest of the way (remember 2006 when they lost 17-7 to Ohio?).

This group is different, and I hope they continue to play with confidence.

I agree Steve. Ohio's fans need to throttle down with them being as good or better than Ohio State.

As far as Kent State fans, we need to keep spporting the team, program, and athletic dept. As many fans as possible need to get to Dix Stadim next Sat afternoon and be involved and make noise the entire game against Western Michigan and provide a home field advantage. Need to keep the momentm and ball rolling forward.

Keep getting better and tightening all areas. Especially converting red zone opportnities into TD's, not trnovers or fg's.

The pass coverage needs to contine to get better, as Western Mich has a senior QB who will test the secondary all game long.

I have to commend the DL/LB's for their performance at Ohio, as they stepped p.

Steve:

I also read many of the posts on BobcatAttack.com and was very disappointed with the negativity of most of them. It just shows you how a loss can affect how people feel about their team but how it often changes after a win. Miami's sports board, HawkTalk, must be the most negative at this point considering Miami is winless this season. I am confident that OU will survive its loss to Kent but I'm not sure how long it will take Miami to become respectable again. As I have said before, I like both schools and am proud to have them in the MAC.

Speaking of fans. I hope that there is a solid crowd of 20K next week for WMU. This is one of the most meaningful games at KSU in 20 years at least. If things work out, I should be there. They appear to be turning the corner. They could have quit after BG and it looks like they haven't. I hope they are proving me wrong and should be at Dix next week to each some crow. I like it served with a side of Bronco and Kangaroo...

It will be interesting to see the crowd at the next game. Since the program has not been known for winning that is what hurts them. Especially when it comes to the students. If I was still in Kent I would be there and everyone I know, but if they keep winning it should take care of it self.

Aren't they honoring the 1972 team? Maybe they ought to kiss up to a certain couple of guys from that team that have next Saturday off in order to have some special appearances to help boost attendance. I'll be there regardless and hope the fellas build on yesterdays game.
