Sorry everybody...I came down with a pretty nasty cold on Saturday and it stuck with me on the drive home today.

That meant I called it an early night on Saturday and didn't get to posting a game recap and today I was really tied up with my Irish Illustrated duties, since Notre Dame had a huge recruiting weekend.

You all deserve some coverage and I'll get to it on Monday. I have video of the press conference to post and I'll provide some analysis on what I think was Kent State's most balanced performance of the year.

They are far from perfect, but if they can continue to make plays in all three phases (offense--big pass plays; defense--goal line stand; 40 yards allowed in second half; special teams--fumble on opening kickoff, big return by Bowman), they are going to be in a lot of games.

I think this game gave them some confidence that they can close out a game and they'll need that confidence in what I consider to be a season-breaking game on Saturday at Ohio.

Win and the Golden Flashes become one of three favorites in the East; lose and it's probably lights out.

Don't worry about it Steve. I was at the game as well, and was definitely under the weather as well. Woke up today and felt even worse. It was worth going to though!

Steve and Thanksjim:

I watched the game on K-Zone and did not realize that you were among the handful of people in attendance. Had you waved, everyone back home could have seen you. Although the attendance was actually 2,401, it looked considerably less than that but of course the cameras did not show everyone inside the stadium. Unfortunately, Kent hasn't been much better with attendance over the years. Hopefully winning some more games will change that. I hope you guys are feeling a little better. Your support of the Flashes is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the update Steve. Hopefully you are feeling better. KSU played a lot of players which was nice to see, as they are going to need everyone's help before the season is over.

I watched most of the game on channelsurfing.net, pretty good coverage, but I missed some of the game.

I did not see Flowers at all, did they hold him out to heal for the Ohio game? I know that Terry and Archer have played well, but with Flowers experience, they will need him as well, especially in short yardage and pass protection.

Were there any injuries sustained by KSU in the EMU game? I did not see any, but as I said above, I did not get to see every play/snap.

The Flashes have got to come ready to play from the time that the bus leaves Kent, as this is going to be a battle, one Kent can win, but they are going to need to be firing on all cylinders to go to Athens and get a much needed win. Come on fellas and coaching staff, keep improving each week. Keep the train rolling forward, no steps back.

Nashville,
It was Band Day, and they probably accounted for 500-600 of the people as well.

The Kent State side was pretty empty. There were KSU fans there, but the side of the stadium is so large it looked empty. I believe that's the side of the stadium shown on TV.

The EMU side wasn't packed, but there were plenty of people there--and yes, the high school bands probably accounted for a good 600 of the attendance.
