Columbus Brookhaven safety Ryland Ward told me he received an offer from Kent State today.
Ward was scheduled to visit for the Miami game, but he couldn't make it up. He hopes to reschedule.

Steve,
I wanted to check in with the recruiting scene for KSU as it stands 10/19/2009.
KSU is 3-4, 2-1 in the MAC. In contention for the MAC East Title (especially after this weeks win, early prediction, 27-21 KSU).
This class will be bigger than I thought it would be, as Belgrave is gone, Page is ineligible (not sure if he is on campus), Mike Daniels and Jeff Walker never made it to campus, Alan Vanderink's playing career is up in the air (I sure hope he makes it back for next season, but you never know with injuries), Kilroy (quit and released from his scholarship?? was his scholarship used for this years class?), and Eugene Jarvis (no guarantee that he is medically cleared to play next year and/or will receive a 6th year of eligibility for a medical redshirt).
I think that the class will be between 18-23, depending on the above circumstances, with all of the players I mentioned.
Any new offers the last 2 weeks? Any new verbal commitments? They should be able to win the recruiting battle against Ball State, EMU, Miami of OH, and Akron this year, as barring a weird change of events, KSU should have a much better record than all 4 of these teams.
Like I said before, I am interested to see the kind of impact Coach McNutt and the new LB's coach can have on the recruiting scene (where are their contacts/piplelines)? Also hoping Coach Martin can have a big impact on recruiting this year, as he is just Head Coach this year, so can focus on the program and development of all aspects than in years past.
I know this week marks week 9 for all Ohio HS football players, so the recruiting should be in full swing and players/teams should be narrowing down their choices and players should be committing within the next month.

Steve,
I am interested to hear any new news on the Kent State football and basketball recruiting scene.
After 2 wins in a row and an upcoming home game against Western Michigan, I am interested to hear which recruits are coming to Kent for this weekend's game, as the majority of recruits will have finished their HS careers this Friday night, as such a small # of teams make it to the playoffs.
Looking at the offers list that you have posted on this website, these are the new offers that I have noticed:
The 4 recruits from Hargrave Academy: Calvin Tiggle, Safety Ishmael Banks, CB Thomas Pizzurro, OG and Josh Watson, DT. Any word on if they have visited or when they are going to visit?? I remember reading either something you posted or on another site that all of the Hargrave recruits being recruited by KSU, would like to make a trip to Kent together, to check out a game and the campus.
And a few HS seniors from GA and OH have been added.
I also have read some good things about the athlete/TE/LB prospect from Crestwood HS, 6'4" 230. Is Kent State recruiting him? I figured that they would be, as Vanderink and Wagner are on Kent State's current roster and of course Jack Lambert played his HS ball there.
Are there any other Northeast Ohio players flying under the radar that Kent State is recruiting or should be recruiting, that you have not listed on the offer list or recruit list? As the coaching staff has really hit Northeast Ohio in recent years, Winters, Batton, Anzevino, Wagner, Vanderink, Konz, Battles, McBryde, Sadler, Reedy, and Kitchen, among others. Hopefully they can pull some more recruits from the Akron, Cleveland, Youngstown, and Columbus area.
