I enjoy watching high school and college athletics. Although I graduated from high school over 40 years ago, I still like to attend high school games and support high school athletic programs. When creating MyFanPage, I wanted to include photos and videos that reflect my background and interests. I chose Jack Lambert as my profile picture because I believe that Jack is the face of KSU athletics. Back in 1994, I once met a teacher from Canada at a Vanderbilt pre-season football practice session who immediately mentioned Lambert’s name after I told him that I went to Kent State. Although some people I meet mention Antonio Gates or James Harrison after announcing my alma mater, I nonetheless believe that for those who are old enough to remember will always associate Lambert with Kent State. I also wanted to include photos from yesteryear because that was the time I attended KSU and it represents a lot of good memories for me. I have included the University of Tampa on MyFanPage for two reasons. First, because I attended the school in the 70s and second because UT played Kent State in the 1972 Tangerine Bowl. John Matuszak and Freddie Solomon both played in that game for the University of Tampa and of course Lambert played for KSU. Although UT had dropped football two years before I attended the university and John Matuszak was no longer living in the Tampa Bay area, I still heard a lot of stories about the "Tooz” while attending UT. But since I wasn’t around UT when Matuszak was and can’t confirm that everything I heard about him was true, I won’t try to pass along any of those stories. However, if you are interested, please read what Ted Webb, a media personality in Tampa Bay, wrote about the "Tooz" in my photo gallery or view the video entitled, "History of Tampa Spartan Football." You can also read what Harold Cook, a former KSU teammate, said about Lambert.
I also invite you to view one of the videos on MyFanPage, entitled “Love is All.” In this video, Yanni references Socrates and offers a message of tolerance and love. You will also hear Van Johnson sing a beautiful song entitled, “Love is All.”
As a student, I always believed that Kent State belonged to me and one must love what is his. I always enjoy my yearly visits to Kent State and will forever cherish the memories that I have for my alma mater.
